Minyoo Kim Takes 2019 KSIAM Poster Award

The Korean Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (KSIAM) hosted its spring conference on May 17-18, 2019 at Yonsei University in Seoul.

An undergraduate student in the Department of Mathematical Sciences received the 2019 KSIAM Poster Award as recognition for research excellence. This is a noteworthy and unusual achievement for an undergraduate student.

Her research entitled “The Total Quasi-Steady-State Approximation for a Competitive System” introduces an equation that approximates enzyme kinetics models used in drug metabolism more accurately than the existing method.

She conducted this research in the winter and spring semester 2019 as part of KAIST’s Undergraduate Research Program (URP) under the guidance of Professor Jaekyoung Kim and Teaching Assistant Hyulpyo Hong.
