[등록마감: 9월 14일] Simon Marais Mathematics Competition (대상: KAIST 학부생) 참가자 모집 (10월 13일)

작년부터 시작된 아시아태평양지역 대학생 수학경시대회인 Simon Marais Math Competition에 올해부터 KAIST도 참가하기로 하였습니다. 참가할 KAIST 학부생들을 모집합니다. 개최 일시는 10월 13일이며 오전 9시 30분~오후 12시 30분, 오후 2시~5시에 걸쳐 시험이 실시됩니다. 


참가는 무료이며 개인으로 참가하거나 짝(pair)으로 참가할 수 있습니다. 짝(pair)으로 참가하는 경우 시험 중 두 명이 서로 논의를 하면서 문제를 풀어 제출하게 됩니다. 답안은 영어로 작성하여야 합니다.


일시: 2018.10.13. (토요일 오전 9시 30분~12시 30분, 오후 2시~5시)

등록 마감 : 2018.9.14. (금요일)

장소 : KAIST (추후 공지)

자격 : KAIST 학사 과정 학생 (2018년 가을학기 현재 KAIST 학부과정 재학생으로서, 휴학 제외 학부 재학기간이 4년을 넘지 않을 것. 현재 휴학생도 참여가능)

상금: 

개인상: 1등 5000호주달러, 2등 3500호주달러, 3등 1500호주달러, 4~10등 각각 1000호주달러

짝상: 1등 10000호주달러, 2등 7000호주달러, 3등 3000호주달러, 4~10등 각각 2000호주달러

대학상: 1등 20000호주달러, 2등 15000호주달러, 3등 10000호주달러 

Hofflin 상: 3000호주달러 (짝이 받는 경우 각각 1500달러)    [어떤 문제에 가장 창의적인 풀이를 제출한 사람에게 수여)

Eligibility: Undergraduate students at pre-registered universities located between New Zealand Standard Time and Indian Standard Time

Entry: Students can enter individually or in pairs, with prizes for the top 10 individuals and the top 10 pairs.
The best universities will be determined based on the scores of their 3 best individuals and 2 best pairs, no more than 4 students of any gender. 
Universities can enter students in the Competition even if there are not enough students to calculate a University score as above. The students will receive scores and be eligible for individual/ pairs prizes.

Format: Two three-hour exams on Saturday 13 October 2018, at times depending on the time-zone, to be held at universities.

Problems: Challenging problems using core undergraduate mathematics. Possibly one open problem in afternoon exam. Sample problems and previous exam questions can be found on the website.

Prizes: A$103,500 in total prize money, as well as corporate internships (see website for conditions).
