Awarding Ceremony of the 1st Future Core Leaders for Basic Science

On August 23, 2010, Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology (MEST) and National Research Foundation (NRF) announced that they selected 20 excellent graduate students (9 master students and 11 Ph.D. students) in the area of basic science in Korea, as a program of Cultivation of core leaders for future basic science.

Young-rak Kim, a master student of our department is selected as one of them.

Those selected students will receive the research grant up to 40,000,000 won per year if they are master students, and 60,000,000 won per year if they are Ph.D. students for 3 years, and this support can be extended for 2 more years after additional review. In 2010, the application was accepted in May and 136 applications from 30 universities were received and 20 students are selected.
