In optimal transport theory, one wants to understand the phenomena
arising when mass is transported in a cheapest way. This variational
problem is governed by the structure of the transportation cost
function defined on the product of the source and target domains. One
of the most important examples of such cost function is the distance
squared in Euclidean or more generally Riemannian geometry. I will
discuss the geometry around the so-called A3 condition (or MTW
condition), a key necessary condition given by Ma, Trudinger and Wang
on the cost function for the continuity of optimal transportation.
Some recent progress in the continuity theory will also be presented.
