Reading and Watching
The online lectures of this course are uploaded at TBA.
We assume that students have already studied the material from the online lectures before each meeting.
The pace of the online lectures is brisk and often highly compressed, compared to conventional lectures.
Therefore, students must spend enough time reading, and working out examples from, the textbook.
Students are encouraged to often pause the online lectures to allow themselves to ponder on the material presented.
Discussion Meeting
There are two meetings each week. One is with the professor
a lecture, a meeting or a homework. The importance of problem-solving in this course can never be exaggerated, and some of the key examples that are essential for the understanding of the course will be dealt with in the discussion sections. Students should seek help at office hours from the instructor and the TA whenever necessary.

Homework and Attendance (15%)
It is extremely important for you to work on all the homework problems, in order not to fall behind the class. The exam problems will be similar to homework problems. Students are strongly encouraged to work together for the problem sets, but each one should write the solutions by him/herself. Each problem set is due at the beginning of the Wednesday discussion section, following each class week. Late homeworks are not accepted.
Attendance will be occasionally checked, and weighed as one problem set. Early exit will be counted as an absence. Pre-arrangement with a valid reason or a proof of university-wide activity can be considered as an attendance.
Exams : Midterm I (20%), Midterm II (20%), Final Exam (45%)
Make-up exams are given only with documented illness/family emergencies, or pre-arranged evidence of university-level approval.
Students who need make-up exams should remind the instructor before AND after the exam date by email.
Early exams are not given at any circumstances. No cheat sheets or calculators are allowed during the exams. The final exam will be cumulative. Midterm exams will take place during class hours (TBA), and the final exam date is pre-determined.
