Pohang Mathematics Institute(PMI) Postdoctoral Fellow Position

POHANG UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY

 

The Pohang Mathematics Institute (PMI) at the Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH) in Pohang, South Korea, invites applications for non-tenure-track assistant professorships and postdoctoral fellows  preferably  to start on 1st March 2014, but not exclusively restricted.  All areas of pure and applied mathematics are considered with priority given to Partial Differential Equations, Analysis, Algebraic and Geometric Topology, Coding Theory, and Number Theory. Applicants are expected to have demonstrated  outstanding research potential, with a substantial achievement beyond or through the doctoral dissertation. No knowledge of Korean is required for the candidates who are fluent in English.

 

The assistant professorship and postdoctoral fellowship appointments are initially for one or two years, and may be renewable.  The annual salary of the assistant professorship is up to  42,000,000 Korean Won and the postdoctoral fellows is up to 36,000,000 Korean Won according to the credential of  the candidates. The terms and conditions for the positions are subject to the availability of resources and administrative approval.

The Department of Mathematics has 21 regular faculty members specializing in diverse areas of pure and applied mathematics. PMI was founded in 2007 in order to enhance research in the mathematical sciences.
